If you have active teens, you know their sports bags practically live in the car. Between equestrian eventing, flag football, baseball, and regular training sessions at the gym, our kids are constantly on the move. One minute they’re heading to practice, the next they’re meeting friends, helping around the farm, or hauling heavy beehive boxes that definitely count as a workout. With schedules like that, having a well-packed sports bag makes life so much easier. Over time we’ve figured out the small things that make a big difference — the items that keep our teens prepared, comfortable, and ready for whatever the day throws at them.

Below are some of our favorite tried-and-true sports bag essentials that have held up to busy schedules and very active kids.

Large Insulated Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is critical when teens are practicing, lifting, or playing games. A large insulated bottle keeps water cold for hours and makes it easy to refill between activities.
For quite awhile I was filling multiple small bottles, or sometimes just sending them with a gallon jug from the store, which made me cringe with all the plastic waste we were contributing to…it felt like I was always making the wrong decision, while making the right decision to prep the teens with the right hydration situation. Until this water bottle entered the chat! It cleans so easily AND has a great handle for carrying!

Electrolyte Packets- A must have for an active athlete

When practices are long or the weather is hot, electrolyte packets are an easy way to help replace what’s lost through sweat. Even through the winter active athletes need electrolytes and this is often overlooked. Personally, I don’t want any crud, sugars, food dyes, caffeine and other nasty ingredients in our electrolytes. When I found these ones…this quickly became a staple on our sports bag and the flavor is enjoyed by all! Check on the one we like here!

Jigsaw Health Potassium Cocktail

Post Work-Out Skin Spray

Cleanse, restore, refresh! This HOCL skin spray helps to gently cleanse sweat and oil after practice or a work out. Often we have several activities in a row between the kids and we cant always pop home immediately for a shower. This spray helps in the mean time! Another plus…no nasty ingredients! Check it out here!

BRIOTECH Topical Skin Spray

A Deodorant that ACTUALLY works!

A good deodorant is a non-negotiable for the sports bag! We have tried many all-natural/organic type deodorants and this specific brand flawlessly helps with the smell side of things and doesn’t irritate anyone’s underarms! My middle kiddo is quite sensitive to products and he has successfully been using this brand for two years! Check out the one we love here! Our daughter loves this one!

Sports Bag Quick Bites- Energy and Clean Nutrition

We put a few of these in the car or the sports bag as quick and easy snacks if needed! Ultimately I like to pack fresh food and fruit, but sometimes we need things that are shelf stable and portable! Check out our favorites below!

IQBAR Clean Plant Protein Bars

Tillamook Grass Fed Beef Sticks

GoGo Fruit Squeeze

Orgain Chocolate Drink

KT Tape Original

We found KT tape through a local body worker and our amazing chiropractor! Eventually our kids started watching YouTube videos on how to properly apply it themselves. Now they each keep this in their sports bags and are able to support shoulder, knees, elbows, whatever they may need! Our daughter even uses it on her horses! Check it out here!

These are just a few essentials we like to keep ready and stocked for our teen athletes! They work so hard and I like to support them in ways I can! Try these out for your athlete and let me know what you think!
